BIOGRAPHY

Sicilian born and London adopted singer-songwriter

Alba Plano is an eclectic and versatile artist.

Her sound has a modern twist with a mix of Jazz,

Neo-Soul and North-African influences from her

homeland. Stylistically comparable to Erykah Badu,

Lianne La Havas and Corinne Bailey Rae, Alba

draws influence from a wide array of artists, including

Nai Palm, Laura Mvula, Esperanza Spalding and Jill

Scott.

She has performed backing vocals for Ninja Tune’s

Jordan Rakei as well as Fronted “Forever Amy”, a

project featuring Amy Winehouse’s original band, that

has given her the opportunity to tour and perform in

large venues honing her stagecraft and interpretive

skills.

She has previously collaborated with accomplished

musicians such as:

Karl Rasheed Abel (Producer and bass player for

Laura Mvula, Soweto Kinch, Michael Kiwanuka

Christine and the Queens, Ashley Henry);

Salem Raman (drummer for Layla Hathaway,

Esperanza Spalding, Martin Taylor..);

Jim Hunt (sax for Amy Winehouse, Richard Ashcroft,

Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai);

Troy Miller (drummer and producer for Gregory

Porter, Rag n Bone man, Becca Stevens, Laura

Mvula and many others);

Mike Gorman (keyboard player for Boy George,

Incognito);

Sam Crowe (pianist for The Cinematic Orchestra,

Rosie Lowe, The Invisible, Matthew Herbert,

GoldieMark Guiliana, Lianne La Havas, Jordan

Rakei, producer and pianist for Native Dancer).. and

many others.

In 2018 she released her debut EP “White Lotus”

which was co-produced and co-written with Karme

Caruso and featured on BBC Radio1xtra, BBC

Radio 6, Jazz Fm, and many more.

In 2019 Alba has completed a sell-out European tour on the back of her debut EP which features some of the most talented artists of the jazz and neo-soul UK and Italian scene:

Karl Rasheed-Abel, David Mrakpor, Blue Lab Beats,

Luca Faraone, Joao Caetano, Dario Deidda, Enzo

Zirilli, Jim Mc Crae.

Alba is currently working on her new album and

collaborating with producer Karl Rasheed Abel, and started recording in London with

Karl Rasheed Abel on bass, Sam Crowe on piano and Keyboards, Saleem Raman on drums.
